We, the undersigned, urge the members of the Connecticut General Assembly, and its committees, to oppose any legislation legalizing Physician-Assisted Suicide in the State of Connecticut, including SB 88 " An Act Concerning Aid in Dying for Terminally Ill Patients."  The concern of the state legislature should always be to improve the quality of care for the elderly, disabled and the seriously ill, seeing that they receive true compassion and palliative care during difficult times.  The Connecticut legislature should not legalize a practice that may well provide a means of abusing the most vulnerable in our society and would permanently alter the doctor/patient relationship in our state. The state of Connecticut already faces a suicide crisis and should not enact any legislation that views suicide as a solution to a problem. We, therefore, petition the General Assembly, and the Governor, to reject any proposed legislation legalizing Physician-Assisted Suicide.
